ECM IR PORT INSERTION
Hi everyone, it’s me again! (Hannah) I am writing this from bed which means the procedure went well. I was a little anxious going into the port insertion because it was the first step that feels a bit more invasive, and makes it all the more real. But it turns out, the procedure was not bad at all and I am thankful to have this option so I won’t continue to get poked in my arms as much! I underwent “twilight” sedation and had a great team in the OR with me. (We were all cracking jokes by the end.) They kept me for a few hours to ensure I wasn’t feeling too woozy after hand. I was cleared to leave right around 11.
It will take about 3 weeks for the port insertion sites to heal, but I’ll be able to use this at my first treatment on 3/25! We got the date secured and will be starting this 6 cycle journey on that date. I’m ready to get this started and evict this cancer from my body forever! :)
Special shout out to Nicholas who has been with me every step of the way, calming my nerves, asking questions on my behalf and being a HUGE support for me. I’m the luckiest gal in the world to have such a great partner by my side.
